Waymo - Impressive ramp in ride volume. Back-of-the-envelope math: - 250K weekly rides imply 13M annualized run-rate - Assuming $15–18 per ride, gross bookings are tracking above $200M/year
For context, Uber completes ~2–3B mobility trips annually in the US (estimated). Waymo currently operates ~1,500 vehicles across key cities (SF, LA, Phoenix, Austin), targeting an additional 2,000 by FY26E (per article below) Rough estimate (fun exercise via o3) suggests ~40K robotaxis would be needed to roughly cover all major U.S. cities. By comparison, there are ~150K street-hail taxis and ~1.4M Uber drivers in the U.S. (8–10x more than taxis)
